The Only Thing That Stops You From More Success

Last week, with a new swimsuit on, I was all set to reach that 1km while my daughter was in a nearby lane. But, once in the water, my neck stiffened, submerging my head became a struggle, and old fears resurfaced.
In a flashback to when I was 11, I recalled a day at the lake—a routine swim turned into a terrifying experience, and I came back home in tears. I realised this long-standing fear has been shaping my swimming experiences ever since.
Quick Reflection:
It led to reflections—how might unresolved fears from childhood be barricading us from fulfilling our deepest desires - professional and personal? What opportunities might we have missed due to these unseen barriers?
I worked with an entrepreneur last year, trapped in her younger self’s fears. A haunting echo of a childhood spent in the shadows of a distant father and an overcompensating, pleasing mother. These relationships imbued her with fears and insecurities had been limiting her growth for decades. Addressing these fears brought her newfound freedom and a path to significance.
Transform and Grow:
Our past shapes our present, and facing our deepest fears is crucial to unleashing our true selves and attaining new leadership heights.
Reflect on these transformative questions, and be candid. The only person you lie to is yourself:
- How do you instinctively react to challenges?
- What is the essence of your underlying fear?
- What small step can you take today to cultivate healthier response mechanisms?
- Confronting your deepest fears, what desires would you be able to achieve?

Let me tell you a secret, before I wrap. I've become a better version of myself by daily embracing my fears and turning them into stepping stones to serve my clients as powerfully as possible.
