15 Ways To Cultivate A High-Level Leadership Style

As a successful woman and entrepreneur, I've come to realise that managing our energy levels is crucial to being an effective leader. It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day responsibilities of our work and overlook the importance of our own well-being. Don’t you agree?

I know from personal experience how important it is to maintain positive energy. Early on in my career, I struggled with micromanaging my team members, thinking that it was necessary to maintain control and ensure success. However, I soon realised that this approach was not sustainable and ultimately hindered my team's growth and development. Through my own journey of working with coaches and mentors supporting my personal and professional development, I learned the importance of shifting my mindset and what to do to continuously cultivate positive energy as a leader, as a mother, as a human being.


Get Naked

One principle that has been particularly impactful for me is the idea of "getting naked," as outlined in Patrick Lencioni's book of the same name. This concept encourages leaders to be vulnerable, honest, and authentic with their teams, creating a culture of trust and accountability. When we embrace our own imperfections and show our teams that it's okay to make mistakes, we create an environment that promotes growth and innovation. And that attitude is one secret which great leaders apply.



It was extremely vulnerable for me to discover how I really showed up. It wasn’t in alignment of how I thought I showed up. But once I acknowledged this, I was able to make changes and improve my overall health, including seeing improvements in my physical appearance like the return of my curls. As Dr. Roopleen says, "Don’t let mental blocks control you. Set yourself free. Confront your fear and turn the mental blocks into building blocks." I did the very opposite. I let mental blocks control me and I have experienced other leaders doing the same. Which only made matters word. Letting fear steer leads to toxic work environments, bad performance and poor results.


On my self-discovery journey, I acquired new skills and insights which I practice daily and help my clients embody. I'm sharing 5 principles with you which I have in my life toolbelt and which you may to embody as well if you want to level up your game:

  1. Get enough sleep: Sleep is essential for restoring your energy levels. Make sure you are getting enough restful sleep each night.
  2. Move your body: Regular exercise can help improve your physical and mental wellbeing, which in turn can help boost your leadership energy.
  3. Fuel your body with the right things: A healthy diet can help you feel more energised and focused.
  4. Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness techniques like meditation or deep breathing can help you stay focused and grounded.
  5. Take breaks: Taking regular breaks throughout the day can help prevent burnout and keep your energy levels up.


Energy and Emotional Intelligence

Another aspect of energy that is critical to leadership in the pharma industry is emotional intelligence. How you interact with your team and colleagues can impact morale, productivity, and ultimately, success.

  2. What would be different, if you levelled up and became more emotionally aware of how you are doing inside?
  3. What emotions and attitudes do you tend to project in your interactions with others, and how might this impact the energy and morale of your team?
  4. How can I consciously work to raise my own energy levels and bring an attitude of positivity, enthusiasm, and growth to my work and leadership role?
  5. How can I show up as a positive, supportive leader today?

  7. How can I cultivate greater self-awareness and emotional intelligence?
  8. What mindfulness techniques can I practice to stay focused and grounded throughout the day?
  9. How can I incorporate regular breaks into my workday to prevent burnout?
  10. What negative thoughts or patterns of behaviour do I need to let go of in order to reach my full potential?
